The AB 1756-L55/A CPU module is a ControlLogix I/O chassis-based module that works as a controller for your CPU. It provides a full range of digital, diagnostic digital, analog, motion control, and other specialty I/O functions that are built to meet your application needs. The AB 1756-L55/A I/O module is used in the local chassis of a ControlLogix controller or used in a chassis linked to a ControlLogix controller across ControlNet or EtherNet/IP networks. The “A” in the model number 1756-L55/A indicates that this model is part of the A series of AB CPU Modules. Any of the ControlLogix I/O modules made by AB are related to and compatible with the chassis of a ControlLogix controller. The AB 1756-L55/A CPU module mounts in a ControlLogix chassis and requires either a removable terminal block (RTB) or a Bulletin 1492 wiring interface module (IFM) to connect all field-side wiring. This module includes inherent time-stamping capabilities for sequence of event (SOE) applications and offers comprehensive I/O diagnostics for detection of both system and field-side failures. This unit provides removal and insertion under power (RIUP) for ease of maintenance. Electronic keying is offered to help prevent replacement errors, and this module includes I/O wizards in the Studio 5000 Logix Designer application to enable quick and easy module configuration. An optional conformal coating is offered to help protect the unit in harsh environments. The AB 1756 series ControlLogix Digital I/O modules include a variety of voltages (8 to 32 points per module) and offers isolated and non-isolated module types. The ControlLogix Digital I/O modules also offer direct-connect or rack-optimized communications as well as field-side diagnostics on select modules. The AB 1756 series ControlLogix Analog I/O modules come standard with input, output, and combination modules, as well as thermocouple and RTD modules. It also includes on-board data alarming, scaling to engineering units, real-time channel sampling, electronic module keying, and is software configurable. The ControlLogix Analog I/O modules are also user-defined mechanical RTB keying and offer per channel configuration for voltage, current, 2-wire transmitter current sourcing, RTD, or Thermocouple. All of these products in the AB 1756 series are optimized for compatibility, including the 1756-L55/A CPU module, the ControlLogix Analog I/O modules and the ControlLogix Specialty I/O modules.
