The AB 1746-OW4 is a relay contact output module. It has 4 relay contact outputs and no relay contact inputs. It has 4 common points. It is an AC/DC relay output module that is suitable for any application of relay contact type outputs. The relay contact module is vulnerable to chemical exposure because it may degrade the sealing materials. Therefore, the 1746-OW4 is recommended to inspect the module periodically to avoid any degradation and to quickly replace the module if there is any degradation.
The 1746-OW4 module has 2 ranges of operating voltages: 5-125V DC and 5-265V DC. The signal delay for both the ON and the OFF state is 10 ms. The backplane current consumption of this module at both 5V DC and 24V DC is 0.045A for each. The minimum load current of this module is 1 mA at 5V DC. Please refer to the user manual to learn more about the continuous current per point in this module. The maximum thermal dissipation of the 1746-OW4 module is only 1.9 W. The heat dissipation per point for the 1746-OW4 is 0.133 W. This module also has a maximum continuous current per module of 8A.

The 1746-OW4 is a digital contact output module that contains 4 relay contact outputs. Operating voltage for 1746OW4 is 5...125V DC or 5...265V AC. Backplane current load is 45mA at 5V DC or 45mA at 24V DC.

Local Systems At minimum, a modular hardware SLC 500 control system consists of a processor module and I/O modules in a single 1746 chassis with a power supply.
You can configure a system with one, two, or three local chassis, for a maximum total of 30 local I/O or communication modules. You connect multiple local chassis together with chassis interconnect cables to extend the backplane signal lines from one chassis to another.
Distributed Systems More complex systems can use: distributed I/O. multiple controllers joined across networks. I/O in multiple platforms that are distributed in many locations and connected over multiple I/O links.
Choose the processor module with the on-board communication ports you need. You optionally add modules to provide additional communication ports for the processor. For I/O in locations remote from the processor, you can choose between a ControlNet, DeviceNet, or Univeral I/O link. A communication interface module is required in both the local and remote chassis. Depending upon the communication ports available on your particular SLC control system, you can select operator interfaces that are compatible.
