between the probe tip and a conductive surface. It can measure both static (position) and dynamic (vibration) valuesThe 8 mm probe (larger than the 5 mm alternative) offers improved robustness and better

mechanical durability.The family supports interchangeable components: probe + extension cable + sensor can be mixed (within the 8 mm line) without individual bench matching, provided you

stay within the defined system.he probe 330101‑00‑12‑50‑01‑05 can be described as:A 3300 XL 8 mm diameter proximity probe with 3/8‑24 UNF thread mounting, standard (no armor)

Q1: What exactly does this probe measure?
A1: The probe senses the distance (gap) between its tip and a conductive target surface (typically a rotating shaft or other metal element). The

output voltage of the overall transducer system is proportional to this gap. The system can track static

 displacement (position) and dynamic displacement (vibration).


Q2: What gap should I set and how is calibration addressed?
A2: The system’s performance figures assume a probe gap of 1.27 mm (50 mils) to an AISI 4140 steel target. If a different

target material is used, the factory can supply calibration to that alternative, but performance

(accuracy/interchangeability) may vary.



Q3: If I have to replace the cable length, what should I consider?
A3: The “50” option in this probe indicates a 5.0 m total length (probe + cable). If you substitute a different length

 extension cable, you must ensure the total system length (probe + extension cable + Proximitor)

remains within the validated length for your system, and check that electrical characteristics

(resistance, capacitance) stay within specification. The datasheet warns that system

 performance may be affected by field
