Product Description
16925-66 Bently Nevada  Proximity Probe

Description

The 16925-66 probe belongs to the family of Bently Nevada non-contacting proximity (eddy-current) probes used for shaft position / vibration monitoring on rotating machinery. These probes detect very small

distances between the probe tip (which is near the rotating shaft or target) and a conductive surface (shaft, bore, or other target) by using eddy-current sensing technology. They are part of

a system where the probe is connected via an extension cable and then to a Proximitor (signal conditioning/pre-amplifier unit)

and ultimately to a monitoring system.

FAQ

Q1: What is the Bently Nevada 16925-66 Proximity Probe used for?

A: The 16925-66 is a non-contacting eddy-current proximity probe designed to measure shaft vibration, radial position, and axial (thrust) position

on rotating machinery such as turbines, compressors, pumps, and generators. It forms part of a complete transducer system

that includes an extension cable and a Proximitor® sensor.

Q3: What is the working principle of this probe?

A: The probe operates on the eddy-current principle. When placed close to a conductive surface (such as a rotating shaft), it

induces small currents (eddy currents) in the target. The change in impedance in the probe coil is proportional

to the gap distance, allowing precise non-contact measurement of vibration or displacement.

Q4: What is the typical output or sensitivity?

A:While exact numbers depend on probe type and calibration, Bently Nevada proximity systems typically

output 7.87 mV/µm (200 mV/mil).For correct calibration, the probe, extension cable, and Proximitor® must

be electrically matched as a complete system

(total length and type).
