The RETA‑01 is a 1‑port Ethernet adapter module from ABB, designed to add Ethernet communication functionality to ABB drives.When installed, the drive to which it is attached becomes a slave on an Ethernet network. This enables
the drive to be controlled, monitored, and configured remotely via standard Ethernet‑based protocols.The module supports two major industrial Ethernet protocols: EtherNet/IP and Modbus/TCP. The active protocol is selected
via a drive parameter.For EtherNet/IP, RETA‑01 supports two communication profiles: an “AC/DC drive profile” and an “ABB drives profile,” providing flexibility based on the drive type and control
system.For Modbus/TCP mode, the module acts as a Modbus/TCP server supporting typical read/write single and multiple
register function codes, mapped according to the ABB drives profile.

Q1: Can it work with any ABB drive?
A1:It’s compatible with ABB drives that offer an option slot for communication modules; typically the ACS series and other supported drives (check your drive’s
hardware manual for slot compatibility).
Q2: What can I do with a drive once RETA‑01 is installed?
A2:You can start/stop the drive, set motor speed/torque references, read status or actual values, update parameters,
and reset faults — all via Ethernet network.
Q3: Is installation difficult?
A3: No — it plugs into the drive’s option slot, and configuration (IP address, protocol) can be set
via drive parameters or via PC (e.g. ARP, or other method
described in the manual).
