The RLX2-IHW is part of ProSoft’s “Industrial Hotspot” family. It is an industrial-grade wireless Ethernet radio (wireless “hotspot / bridge / access point / client / repeater” device) designed to extend Ethernet
networks over wireless links.It supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands, using standard Wi-Fi technologies (802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g — and “i” for security).The RF data rate is
up to 54 Mbps.It supports serial encapsulation (i.e. you can tunnel/transport serial data — e.g. from serial devices — over the wireless link) in addition to Ethernet.This makes
RLX2-IHW suitable when you need to connect remote devices over a wireless link but still use Ethernet (or serial-to-Ethernet) — for
example in industrial automation, SCADA, remote I/O, mobile equipment, or
bridging segments where cabling is impractical.
