Product Description


PR 6423 series are non-contact eddy-current displacement sensors (also called proximity/transducer sensors), used primarily for dynamic and static measurement of rotating machinery components: shafts, bearings, etc.Their main measurement targets include: radial (and axial) shaft displacement / position, shaft eccentricity, vibration / oscillation,

 thrust (axial movement), differential expansion, oil-film thickness / bearing clearance, valve position / air-gap in valves or rotating equipment

 — essentially any critical movement or clearance between rotating and stationary parts.The sensor is designed with rugged construction, suitable

 for harsh industrial environments (turbines, compressors, pumps, gearboxes, etc.).In short: PR6423/015-040 is a precision,

industrial-grade, non-contact sensor for monitoring displacement, vibration, and positional relationships in rotating

 machinery — enabling reliable predictive maintenance, safety monitoring, and performance control.

Installation and Safety Notes


Based on the manufacturer’s general instructions for the PR 6423 family. Non-contact requirement:

 The sensor must be installed such that the sensor’s tip (head) faces the target metal surface (shaft, rotor) at a defined air-gap — there must be no physical contact. Proper initial

calibration (air-gap adjustment) against the signal converter is essential to ensure accurate measurement. 

  • Use with signal converter / conditioner: The raw eddy-current sensor alone does not provide a usable output. It must be connected to the appropriate signal converter/monitoring amplifier (from the same product family) for excitation and output.

  • Environmental and mechanical protection: Given its industrial applications (turbines, compressors, etc.), the sensor must be installed with proper mechanical mounting, protection from dust, oil, debris, mechanical stress or vibration outside normal tolerances. Housing, armored cable (if applicable), and strain-relief are recommended to

  • ensure reliability over time. 

  • Hazardous area / explosion-proof use: If installed in explosive or hazardous atmospheres (e.g. petrochemical, gas turbines), ensure the full sensor + converter + barrier combination is certified (e.g. Eex ib IIC). Verify compliance with local explosion-protection regulations. 

  • Maintenance / calibration considerations: Because measurement accuracy depends on precise geometry (air-gap, alignment) and correct converter pairing, any re-installation, disassembly, or replacement of components should be followed by a complete re-calibration / zero-setting procedure according to manufacturer guidelines.
