Product Description


 This CON021 is not a “PLC module” in the usual sense (i.e. logic controller), but an eddy‑current signal converter: a signal‑conditioning module that works with PR642x sensors

 (PR6423, PR6422, PR6424, etc.) to convert the raw eddy‑current sensor output into a usable displacement/vibration/position signal.When combined with a

PR6423 sensor, the system (sensor + converter) is used for non‑contact measurement of critical rotating machinery parameters: radial/axial shaft

displacement, position, eccentricity, vibration, and even shaft speed (indirectly).The signal converter ensures the weak sensor signal

becomes suitable for monitoring or control systems, enabling shaft‑monitoring, predictive maintenance, and safety/protection

systems.In short: CON021 + PR6423 is a specialized sensor/converter pair for high‑precision, non‑contact

displacement/vibration monitoring in industrial rotating equipment.

Installation and Safety Notes

Based on official manufacturer recommendations and standard practices for eddy‑current sensor + converter systems. 

  • Sensor mounting: The PR6423 sensor must be mounted with proper mechanical thread (M10×1 or 3/8‑24 UNF, depending on variant) so that the 8 mm tip faces the rotating shaft or target surface. 

  • Cable routing & protection: If using the armored‑cable version, ensure minimum bending radius is respected (per datasheet), and avoid sharp bends or mechanical stress — maintain cable integrity and shielding. 

  • Converter installation: Mount the CON021 converter in a clean, dry, stable environment (ambient temperature within –30 °C to +100 °C). Use the 4 M5 screws for secure mounting. Provide proper wiring: sensor connector via Lemo plug, output to monitoring/control system via screw‑terminal wiring.

  • Power supply requirements: Provide stable DC supply in the specified range (–23 V to –32 V DC, or –21 V to –32 V depending on configuration) as per converter datasheet. 

  • Hazardous-area / explosion‑proof installation (if required): The CON021 is certified intrinsically safe (Ex ia) under relevant standards (ATEX / IEC‑Ex / CSA), but only when installed with proper current‑limiting barriers and per local regulations. 

  • Calibration / alignment: After installation, the air‑gap between sensor tip and shaft must be set per manufacturer’s recommended “initial gap” (often ~0.5 mm) — then zero/reference must be established. Improper gap or misalignment may lead to inaccurate readings or signal distortion.

  • Operating environment: Avoid excessive mechanical shock, vibration beyond specified limits, excessive humidity, or conductive debris near the sensor tip. Keep sensor and converter housings clean and sealed (especially the sensor when used in high‑temperature or oil‑rich environments).
