Product Description


PR6424 sensor is a non‑contact eddy‑current displacement (proximity) transducer, built for industrial heavy‑duty rotating machinery (steam/gas/hydro turbines,

compressors, pumps, fans, gearboxes, etc.) where precise measurement of shaft displacement, vibration, eccentricity, axial/radial movement or gap/clearance

 is required.When used together with the CON021 signal converter, the system becomes a complete measuring chain: the raw eddy‑current signal from

 the probe is conditioned, linearized, and output as a usable analog signal (voltage or current) that can feed into monitoring, control or DCS/PLC

systems.In short: PR6424 + CON021 provides a high‑precision, rugged, non-contact measurement solution for critical industrial

rotating equipment, suitable for both static (position/clearance) and dynamic (vibration / motion) monitoring.

Installation and Safety Notes


Based on the general installation guide for the PR642x series and CON021 converter documentation. Non‑contact measurement requirement: The sensor’s tip must face the rotating shaft (or target surface) with a specific “air‑gap” (for PR6424 nominal ~2.7 mm) maintained. The sensor must not touch the shaft — measurement is based on electromagnetic induction / eddy current.

  • Use of appropriate converter / signal conditioner: The raw PR6424 sensor output requires the CON021 (or compatible) converter to produce a usable analog signal. Without such converter, the sensor alone does not give a calibrated measurement. 

  • Mechanical mounting & alignment: Sensor must be rigidly mounted, typically with proper mounting thread (e.g. sleeve thread M18×1.5 or 3/4‑16 UNF per order matrix) and secure holder to avoid movement or vibration of the probe housing independent from the shaft — any unstable mounting will distort readings. 

  • Cable management and environment protection: Use specified cable type (PTFE or armored), respect minimum cable‑bend radius when routing, avoid sharp bends or mechanical stress. Shielding and proper grounding help maintain signal integrity. 

  • Calibration and air‑gap adjustment: After installation, calibrate and set the “zero” reference for displacement/position. If you change sensor position, replace sensor, or re‑assemble, you must recalibrate — otherwise readings may drift or be inaccurate. 

  • Environmental & operating limits: Ensure the operating temperature, pressure, mechanical shock/vibration, and target material meet specification. For demanding environments (high temperature, possible shocks, oil/mist, etc.), verify that the chosen variant (head, cable, housing) is rated appropriately. 

  • Compliance & safety certification (if used in hazardous/explosive atmospheres): If you plan to use the sensor + converter in hazardous areas, ensure the full measuring chain (sensor + converter + any barrier) is certified (e.g. per ATEX / IEC‑Ex / CSA) for the specific environment and temperature class. Documentation for PR6424 indicates support for explosion‑protected installation when properly configured.
