of a machine, allowing non-contact measurement of rotating machinery parameters (shaft position, radial vibration, speed/Keyphasor, etc.) while providing a durable housing to protect the probe and cable.The housing assembly
lets maintenance personnel adjust the probe gap or replace the probe without disassembling the machine — simplifying maintenance and reducing downtime.
The “metric” designation refers to metric-thread / dimensioning standard for mounting the housing.

Can I replace the probe or adjust gap without disassembling the machine?
Yes — one of the main benefits of the 31000/32000 housing series is that it allows external access to the probe and extension cable, so you can adjust the probe-to-shaft gap or replace the probe without opening up the machine casing.

Is this housing explosion-proof for hazardous areas?
No — the 31000/32000 housings are not explosion-proof housings. They provide mechanical and environmental protection, but are not certified as explosion-proof. For installations requiring explosion-proof housings, other housings (e.g. the older all-metal housings
like 21000 or 24701) should be used.

Is this housing suitable for harsh / industrial / outdoor environments?
Yes. The PPS housing + stainless-steel sleeves and screws give good corrosion resistance. It’s certified Type 4X (corrosion/environment
resistant) and IP66 for dust/water ingress.It also supports electrostatic dissipation (through conductive fibers in
the PPS), which is important for installations in hazardous areas.
