Description

The 330903 prefix indicates the probe belongs to the 3300 NSv (narrow side‑view) / 3300 XL proximity probe family. NSv probes are designed for installations with limited clearance or tight geometry, where standard (larger)

3300‑series probes might not fit.As a proximity (eddy‑current) probe, it performs non‑contact measurement of gap — the distance between its sensing tip and a conductive target (e.g. a steel shaft or rotor).

When used with a matching extension cable + signal conditioner (Proximitor) + monitor, the system can measure static shaft position / clearance, radial vibration / displacement, and dynamic vibration.

What does the probe measure? Static gap, vibration, dynamic displacement?

Yes — like other eddy‑current proximity probes, when paired with correct signal conditioner, it measures:

  • Static shaft / rotor position (gap / clearance)

  • Radial shaft vibration or displacement (dynamic motion)

  • If configured properly (target wheel or key‑way), and using suitable monitor, possibly speed / Keyphasor / phase‑reference signals.



What do I need to use it properly (besides the probe)?

You need:

  • A compatible extension cable + connector (matching electrical length) — NSv probes use 75 Ω coaxial cables with ClickLoc connectors. 

  • A Proximitor (signal conditioner) + monitoring module / monitor designed for 3300‑series probes — the raw eddy‑current signal from the probe must be conditioned to provide a usable output (voltage, displacement, vibration amplitude, etc.). 

  • Proper installation: correct mounting (M8 × 1 thread), correct gap to the conductive target, correct connector torque, good cable routing, shielding / grounding as required.


What are the probe’s expected limitations or constraints?

  • Because 330903 variant is narrow side‑view, it has a smaller thread and body than older / full-size 3300 probes — may not be suitable for large-diameter shafts or where heavy mechanical loads / impacts are expected.

  • The linear measurement range is limited (e.g., ~0.25–1.75 mm) — ensure your application’s required gap/clearance is within that range for accurate linear output. 

  • The suffix “17‑19‑…” is nonstandard — there may be non‑documented mechanical or electrical differences (e.g. altered case length, cable length, connector type, internal wiring), which could impact mounting, wiring, compatibility — therefore you must verify with vendor / manufacturer.
