A: It is not just a passive I/O module. PFPA201 is a full Data Processing Unit (DPU) — with a micro-processor, memory, communication ports (Ethernet, RS-232, fieldbus), and I/O interfaces. It processes
and aggregates data from sensors/transducers and supports communications to higher-level systems.
Q: What communication interfaces does it support?
A: It supports a 100Base-TX Ethernet LAN port for network communication, a serial RS-232 port (for service access), and a fieldbus / transducer-bus (modified PROFIBUS-DP)
port for connecting sensors or transducers. Also supports analog and digital I/O for direct signal interfacing.
Q: Can I connect standard industrial sensors (analog, digital, transducers) to it?
A: Yes — PFPA201 supports both analog and digital inputs/outputs, as well as connection of transducers (e.g. pressure transducers, angle transducers) via the
transducer bus. For analog signal inputs, where required, an insulation amplifier (e.g. in the Cylmate
system an amplifier module is used) may be needed.
