Product Description
330903-00-09-05-02-CN Bently Nevada  3300 XL Ceramic Capped Probe

Description

The Bently Nevada 3300 XL Ceramic Capped Probe is a precision eddy‑current proximity sensor used for vibration and shaft position monitoring on industrial rotating machinery (e.g., turbines,

compressors, pumps). It’s part of the 3300 XL eddy‑current transducer system and is specially designed for corrosive,

chemical, high‑pressure, or otherwise aggressive environments. These probes are installed close to a rotating

shaft target with a controlled air gap. The probe outputs a voltage proportional to the gap, enabling

both static position measurement and dynamic vibration analysis for condition

 monitoring and control systems.

FAQ

Q1. What’s the difference between a ceramic capped probe and a standard 3300 XL probe?
A: A ceramic‑capped probe has an alumina ceramic tip that resists corrosion and chemical attack much better than standard polymer tips or plain stainless steel. This makes it suitable for aggressive or high‑pressure environments where a standard probe might degrade prematurely.

Q2. How does the eddy‑current principle work?
A: The probe induces eddy currents in a nearby conductive surface (e.g., shaft). Changes in distance alter the eddy currents, which are translated into a voltage signal proportional to radial vibration or gap distance. These signals are processed by a Proximitor sensor.

Q3. Why is the ceramic cap important?
A: Ceramic offers excellent chemical resistance and a high‑integrity seal at the probe tip, protecting the sensitive internal sensor from corrosive substances or pressurized fluids typical of harsh industrial environments.
