A: The coaxial BNC connector provides an unfiltered, raw dynamic voltage output (PROX OUT). While the 4-20 mA loop sends an averaged peak-to-peak amplitude back to your control PLC, field technicians can hook a portable machinery analyzer up to the BNC port to check real-time gap voltages and waveform orbits during a shutdown.
Q: Can this 990 transmitter be used with standard 3300 XL 8mm probes?
A: No. The 990 transmitter internal circuits are tuned exclusively to balance the lower electrical capacitance of the 3300 NSv (Narrow Side View) probe and extension line family. Wiring an 8mm probe to it will cause significant tracking errors and break calibration compliance.
Q: What is the maximum distance the 4-20 mA wire loop can run?
A: Because it uses an industry-standard 2-wire 4-20 mA analog loop, the current signal can be transmitted over long distances—often up to several hundred meters depending on the loop power supply voltage (accepts +12 to +35 Vdc) and line resistance—without signal attenuation.
