The 5069-IB8S module is a safety input module that belongs to the 5069 series. This series has been manufactured and designed by AB/Rockwell Automation. These modules are fully compatibles with all the controllers from the same series, and this compatibility is based on the module type and location and whether the module is a standard or safety module. This module is also compatible with different software for the Logix Designer applications. The best Logix software version is version 32 or later. The system of the compatible controller must be the Compact Guard Logix 5380 system. The AB/Rockwell Automation 5069-IB8S safety input module comes with an 8-point safety sinking input and when it is looked from the outside, it has a red housing that differentiates a safety module from a standard module. The difference between these 2 kinds of modules lies is that the safety module can support the same applications as the standard module but it contains integrated safety functions that enable it to control safety systems as well.

The module is installed to the right of the controller and it exchanges data through a system backplane.
