The AB 1756-L63 is a ControlLogix controller which comes in Series A and Series B versions. This controller can perform 3 major controller tasks that are 32 programs per task, 100 programs per task, and event tasks and all of these tasks are event triggers. The 1756-L63 has full support for controller redundancy, except for motion applications. It can also support a maximum of 250 controller connections. The 1756-L63 has an available memory capacity of 8 MB for data and logic storage and a 478 KB I/O memory capacity. The users can also add a backup memory for this controller. Note that the only nonvolatile memory that users can use is the AB 128 MB 1784-CF128 CompactFlash memory card. It has a maximum analog I/O count of 4000 and a maximum digital I/O count and total I/O count of 128,000.

The 1756-L63 controller has a built-in RS-132 serial communication port. The communication options available for this controller include the DeviceNet, ControlNet, EtherNet/IP, SynchLink, Remote I/O, Data Highway Plus, and third-party process and device networks. Serial port communications modules that this controller supports are the Modbus via logic, DH-485, DF1 radio modem, ASCII, and the DF1 full/half-duplex modules. The continuous isolation voltage of the 1756-L63 controller is 30 Volts and it has a basic insulation type. It has also been type-tested at 720 Volts DC for 60 seconds. It has a power dissipation of 3.5 W and a thermal dissipation of 11.9 BTU/hour. Its current draw at 5.1 Volts DC is 1200 mA and its current draw at 24 Volts DC is 14 mA. It has a vibration of 2 g at 10 to 500 Hertz. The 1756-L63 controller has an operating shock of 30 g and a non-operating shock of 50 g. It also has an operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius and a non-operating temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius. It also has a maximum surrounding air temperature of 60 degrees Celsius.
