The AB 1756-IF16H is a HART Analog I/O module that connects a Logix controller to your process. This particular input module is one of those that receive signals from process value transmitters and then convert them to their equivalent measurement values for use in the controller, i.e. flow, temperature, pressure, or pH. Part of the ControlLogix system, it has 16 differential inputs and 1 HART modem in each channel and requires an RTB, or removable terminal block housing, of either 1756-TBS6H or 1756-TBCH before it can be connected to the chassis. The 1756-IF16H allows you to choose which among the three data formats to use: analog only, analog and HART PV, and analog and HART by channel and you can do so via the Studio 5000 Logix Designer software. It is important to select the right data format to use, as it determines which values are included in the Input tag of the module and the features that are available to your application. The Analog Only format only has the analog signal values and the analog status. The Analog and HART PV is recommended when you want the members of your tag to be arranged like the non-HART analog input modules. When you choose this data format, the analog values for all channels are grouped near the end of the tag, making it easy to see all the 16 analog values at once.
